Who provides Gulp
These terms apply between you and the operator below when you use Gulp’s website, account service or subscription features. By creating an account or confirming a paid subscription after being shown these terms, you agree to them. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
A private contact email has not yet been published. Please check this page again before creating an account or buying a plan.
What the service does
Gulp provides educational reading exercises, comprehension quizzes, practice results and a personalised practice plan. Public information and a free speed test are available without an account. An account saves and syncs practice across devices. Paid features and the current free offering are described in the app before purchase.
Practice results measure performance on particular tasks. We do not guarantee a reading-speed increase, a particular comprehension score, a grade or any other outcome. Exercises and forecasts are educational tools, not medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment. The Research pages explain the evidence and its limits.
You need a compatible modern browser; interactive exercises require JavaScript and browser storage. Accounts, syncing and billing need an internet connection. Some previously loaded practice can work offline, but browser storage can be cleared or become unavailable. Download backups of material you want to keep.
Eligibility and accounts
The service is intended for people aged 18 or over. Provide accurate account and billing information, protect your login details and use only accounts you are entitled to access. Tell us if you believe your account has been used without permission. A first name or nickname is enough for greetings.
If you choose Google, Google also governs your use of its login service. Practice saved on this device before you log in can be added to the first account opened here, as the account screen explains. Use care on shared devices.
Prices, trials and recurring payments
Where subscriptions are offered, the app retrieves the current price, currency and billing period from Stripe. Checkout shows the final amount, applicable taxes, any trial and the recurring billing terms before you confirm. A monthly plan charges each month; an annual plan charges the full annual amount once a year.
A subscription renews automatically until cancelled. When a trial is offered, checkout shows its length and the payment due afterwards. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the selected plan starts charging under the checkout terms. Trial eligibility can be limited to one trial per account; a trial is not promised on every purchase.
Stripe handles payment details and may retain a payment method for recurring charges with the authorisation given at checkout. Payment confirmation may take a short time to reach the app. If a payment fails, we may limit paid features while the issue is resolved; contact us about an incorrect charge or an access problem.
Use Settings, Your membership, Manage subscription to see your plan, renewal information and available cancellation options. The Cancellation and refunds policy forms part of these terms. Logging out, removing the app or deleting progress does not cancel billing.
If we change an existing subscription’s price or materially reduce its paid features, we will provide notice before the change applies where required and explain how to cancel. A change does not retrospectively alter an already paid period or remove mandatory consumer remedies.
Your texts and our materials
You keep your rights in text and other material you bring to the app. You give us only the permission needed to store, copy, sync and display it to provide your requested service. Importing a text does not make it public or transfer its ownership to us.
Only import material you own or have permission or another lawful basis to use. Do not upload unlawful material, other people’s private information without authority, or confidential documents you are not allowed to share. Account sync sends saved texts to the server, as described in the Privacy policy.
We and our licensors retain rights in the software, branding and original learning content. You may use the service for your own lawful learning and save your own results and backups. Third-party artwork and other licensed material remain subject to their respective licences. These terms do not restrict rights granted by those licences or by law.
Acceptable use
- Do not access another person’s account or attempt to bypass account, payment or security controls.
- Do not introduce malicious code, disrupt the service, overload it with automated requests or use it for fraud.
- Do not copy or distribute protected learning content beyond what permission or the law allows.
- Do not use support channels to harass others or send unlawful material.
Changes, suspension and leaving
We may maintain and improve the service. The Alpha label means features may evolve; it does not remove obligations attached to a paid service. Where a change affects a paid contract, we will respect applicable notice, cancellation and refund rights.
We may restrict an account where reasonably necessary to address a serious breach, fraud, security risk or legal requirement. Where lawful and practical, we will explain the reason and how to contact us to challenge a mistake. Any prepaid amount and consumer remedy will be handled under the applicable law and the refund policy.
You can stop using the app at any time. Cancel a subscription separately in the billing portal. Contact us to request account closure or erasure. The progress reset in Settings clears practice but does not close the account; see your data choices.
Our responsibilities and your rights
We aim to provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Availability may be affected by maintenance, networks and providers; tell us when something fails so we can investigate. Keep a backup of important texts and results.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss caused by your unlawful use, unauthorised changes you make, or events outside our reasonable control. We do not promise results beyond those expressly described. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable.
Your mandatory consumer rights remain in full. These terms do not exclude legal guarantees, rights relating to digital services, withdrawal rights or other protections that apply where you live. If a term cannot be enforced, the remaining terms continue to apply to the extent lawful.
Questions, disputes and updated terms
Contact the operator about support, billing or a complaint, with enough information to identify the account and the issue. Do not send a password or full card details. We will seek to resolve the issue fairly. You retain access to courts, regulators and any dispute resolution procedure required by applicable law, including consumer protections and jurisdiction rights in your country of residence.
We will publish updated terms with a revision date and give advance notice of material changes where required. Changes apply prospectively. Where a change requires your agreement, we will obtain it; you can cancel or stop using the affected service rather than accept, subject to your existing rights.
You can save or print these terms using your browser. Order confirmations and receipts are provided through the checkout process.
